What is Tajweed?

The word Tajweed comes from the Arabic root 'Jayyid' meaning 'to make better' or 'to improve'. In Quranic context, it refers to the set of rules for proper pronunciation and recitation of the Quran.

Allah commands us in the Quran:

وَرَتِّلِ الْقُرْآنَ تَرْتِيلًا

"And recite the Quran with measured recitation" (Surah Muzzammil, 73:4)

The Prophet Muhammad (SAWW) said: "The one who recites the Quran beautifully and precisely will be with the noble and obedient angels." Learning Tajweed helps you fulfill this command and earn immense rewards.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Qaida and Tajweed?

Noorani Qaida teaches you to read the Quran - recognizing letters and forming words. Tajweed teaches you to recite beautifully - the rules of pronunciation, stops, and elongation. Think of Qaida as learning to drive, and Tajweed as learning advanced driving techniques.

Do I need to complete Qaida before Tajweed?

Yes, we recommend completing Noorani Qaida first. You should be able to read Quranic words comfortably before learning Tajweed rules. However, if you already read Quran, you can start Tajweed directly.

Is Tajweed difficult to learn?

Tajweed has many rules, but we break them down into simple, easy-to-understand lessons. With regular practice, you'll find it becomes natural. Our students usually start seeing improvement within the first month.

Can adults learn Tajweed?

Absolutely! We have many adult students, including professionals and seniors. It's never too late to improve your recitation. In fact, adults often learn faster because they understand the rules better.

Will I get a certificate after completing?

Yes, upon successful completion of the Tajweed course, we provide a certificate signed by Maulana Hassan Sherazi recognizing your achievement in Quranic recitation.

Do you teach Qira'at (different recitation styles)?

Yes, we teach Qira'at for advanced students. We focus on the recitation style common among Shia Muslims (based on Hafs from Aasim), but can also teach other Qira'at for those interested.
